This was the boys first tournament and only their 3 session together as a team. So there was lots of questions and queries about the rules and the game itself. The boys first game was unfortunately abandoned as the other team did not show up but Kent school kindly offered to play a friendly with is which allowed the team to test out their skills. Kent School were clearly well drilled and played the game more wisely that GCS and a lot of our work was done in defense but to finish only 1 try down was a fair result. The next match was against Raffles World Academy (RWA) here the GCS team seemed to find their spirit and skill. With Gianluca managing to grab two well taken tries but some neat interplay from Lian and Gab helped to set the tries up.
With another friendly game again GCS played RWA again and this time we were a bit slow to work to our strengths and long periods of the game were spent in the middle of the pitch following the ball. Although Marc and Sebastian tried their best to get around the opposition. The last game was against a young Kings Nad al Sheba and here GCS were clearly more confident now. Some great runs down the wing from Nicholas and Mikka. Kasper also had moments of good footwork but wasn't able to show his pace. Xavier clearly enjoyed the runs and working back in defense and overall it was a very successful tournament and although we can't make the second tournament we will be practising for the 3rd tournament later in the year. well done boys.
